Be First are working in partnershuip with Habinteg to deliver 20 homes for social rent at Keir Hardie Way. Habinteg is a social housing provider specialising in accessible homes. They provide accessible homes for older and disabled people, and families with disabled children, as well as general needs homes for families and individuals. They were selected by BeFirst and the Borough of Barking & Dagenham to provide much needed homes for Barking & Dagenham residents. They intend to develop a number of homes on this garage site; the majority will be for general needs residents with around a quarter as homes for people with specific wheelchair accessibility requirements. They held an initial ‘meet and greet’ event on the 1st February 2025 and met some members of the community, who told us their experiences of the site and the neighbourhood.
