This engagement event is an opportunity for us to share our early proposals for new council housing on the former Brockelbank lodge site and hear your views and feedback. The site has been vacant since the demolition of the existing care home facility in 2022. It is entirely council owned and located in proximity to schools, amenities and open space, making it well suited for residential development. The site forms part of a wider strategy for the provision of social housing across the Borough of Barking and Dagenham. The proposed scheme forms one site that is suited to the decant of residents at Millard Terrace to enable redevelopment of Dagenham Heathway.
The proposed scheme at Brockelbank is 100% social housing. The number of units for the proposed sites is subject to change, however, one key consideration when re-providing the existing housing that has been at the core of the project has been providing a mixture of flats and townhouses to address the needs of various existing Millard Terrace and prospective residents.
