Can we make Gascoigne Road a happier, healthier and safer place?

The Gascoigne Road project aims to explore how we might create a more harmonious use of a stretch of the road transforming it into a safer and more attractive environment for pedestrians and cyclists. This project is one of several open space and street improvement schemes that are planned in the neighbourhood, following the successes of Phoenix Park.

We are keen to hear from residents, schools, community facilities, businesses and people who use the road, so that we can identify the key concerns and work with local people to understand how we might make it a happier, healthier and safer place to be for all.

The aim of the project is to improve the setting of the educational and cultural buildings along the street through planting and surface improvements including:

  • improving pedestrian and cycle experience for school children, parents and residents moving through the area
  • better connecting east and west Gascoigne
  • creating new play space and safer routes for children and carers adjacent to school entrances
  • improving air quality adjacent to school entrances, and
  • improving the quality of the public realm and helping to improve perceptions of the area.

We will deliver a programme of engagement throughout March - June. This will include workshops, door knocking, on-site pop-ups and public consultations. Together we will create collaborative concept designs and recommendations to showcase and share possible solutions for the future of Gascoigne Road.
