We want residents to help shape the future of Marks Gate, starting with the Padnall Lake development. We believe that your knowledge and experience is valuable, and you can help us understand what the local community really needs from this space.

So, we are setting up a community forum to help us develop detailed designs for the external appearance of the buildings proposed and the surrounding landscape.

This includes the:

  • Green spaces
  • Play spaces
  • Safety and security
  • Building materials

What is the Marks Gate Community Forum?

The Marks Gate Community Forum (MGCF) will be a group of residents keen to represent their local community and collaborate on our plans for the area.

The first piece of work is to help design the green spaces and landscaping around the new homes being built alongside Padnall Lake. The group will be involved in a series of co-design workshops, to represent and convey the concerns, aspirations and priorities of their community. These workshops will help us formulate a community-led design for the public realm and landscaping of the area.

What will taking part in the MGCF involve?

If you are selected to take part, you will have the opportunity to meet fellow residents from Marks Gate, who are motivated to work together and influence positive change. You will hear from a range of experts in the fields of architecture, landscape and design and learn new skills.

Who can take part?

We are looking for up to 14 Marks Gate residents with an RM6 postcode, who are passionate about their local area and willing to get involved and share their ideas.

You don’t have to be an expert to get involved – the first three sessions have been designed to give you all the knowledge you will need to take part.

How do you join us?

We are recruiting up to 14 local people to join the MGCF and take part in eight workshops on Wednesday evenings from 6.00 – 8.00pm starting in early 2022, as well as some preparation time. Some will be in person, others will be online.

If you are selected to take part, you will receive a £20 Co-Op voucher for each session to compensate you for your time. This means that by the end of the workshops, you will receive £160 worth of vouchers to spend at your local Co-Op supermarket.

So, if you live in Marks Gate, are passionate about your neighbourhood, love sharing ideas and getting stuck in – then we would love for you to apply to join us.

  • First complete the online expression of interest form.
  • The closing date for submitting the form is Sunday 16 January 2022 – all applications will need to be received by this time.
  • We have appointed ECF, a specialist engagement consultancy, to support the MGCF. Someone from ECF will give you a call to have a chat about what’s involved and answer any questions you may have.
