Building a better Gascoigne

Our objective at Gascoigne is to create a modern, sustainable new neighbourhood, providing significantly more and better-quality housing, in a mix of sizes, in an attractive, safe and healthy environment.

We're making great progress too. Last year the council gave outline planning permission for an exciting 850 home development along Abbey Road, on the Gascoigne estate in Barking. And, this will complement the work already underway to transform the eastern side of the estate.

Demolition is now underway on both the east and west sides of Gascoigne Road and consultation is underway in a number of areas on the plans to build new homes. It's an exciting time so watch this site for details.

  • CLOSED: This survey has concluded.

We have now drafted designs for the next phase of housing on the eastern side of the estate.  Our plan is for 220 new homes for the council on two plots, including 98 private rented flats at the southern end of St Ann's, and 122 affordable homes on King Edwards Road (opposite Boundary Road). It's vitally important that we get your views if the new development is to be a success.

Please fill in our questionnaire to let us know what you think.

We will use your information to inform the council about residents views on their proposals.  We will not disclose your details to them or pass the information to anyone else.
